Savages and Japan via London outfit Bo Ningen are about to release a unique collaborative album called 'Words to the Blind'. Out on Nov 17th the record consists of one long track described as a “simultaneous sonic poem”. The two bands have performed collaboratively before, Jehnny Beth of Savages first met Bo Ningen five years ago when she performed at British Sea Power’s festival. Since she has appeared on their album ‘III’ and together they have already performed this project, back at the Red Gallery in London in May last year. On November 18th there will be a special Q&A session with both bands and musician, writer and music commentator John Robb at Rough Trade East making sense of the project and discussing the concept, creation and performance of the piece. Both bands will perform it again at the Oval Space in London on November 19th in what one could describe as a ferocious battle of improvisation, noise and poetry. It's always refreshing to see a band doing something purely for artist reasons. Jehnny Beth sees this project evolving with possibilities to introduce different instruments or maybe even different bands and here she is chatting to me for BBC 6 Music News about how the project… I am still unsure when I rang her if she said she was in the bar, or the bath... I'm presuming it wasn't the latter...
