3/14/2016 0 Comments GOT ME A NEW VIRGIN RADIO SHOW!The news is finally out. Somewhat exciting to say I'm going to be doing a radio show on the new national DAB station Virgin Radio UK.
It'll be every Sunday night from 9pm-Midnight. One big promise - with new music discovery at the epicentre I'll be packing the three hours with a whole bunch of genre-spanning tunes I'm loving from week to week and think you will too. The funny thing is my first ever placement in radio in London was at Virgin. During my finals studying English and Drama - when playing a pervy male courtier in tights and court room monk in George Bernard's Shaw's St Joan pretty much single-handedly killed my life-long acting buzz (IT WAS BAAAAD) - I wrote a bunch of letters (physical ones, cover letter, CV and all!) to all my favourite TV and Radio stations. A few weeks later I got a letter back! So in September 2007, for a month at Virgin I commuted into London to Golden Square (where it used to be before it turned into Absolute) made tea, did the post, stocked the fridges, did some editing, filing and worked on the reception. It was my starting point and led me to XFM straight after, to an internship and later my first paid job, which came full circle three years ago when I landed my Friday morning 1-3am show. As you may know I went on to cover regularly for the great John Kennedy, Danielle Perry and Jo Good. Some eight years later I'm going to be back at Virgin, albeit a shiny new model with its all new gang alongside Edith Bowman, Jamie East (Holy Moly) Matt Richardson, Kate Lawler, Angela Scanlon & Russell Kane and more. Some of you have asked if I'll still be on BBC 6 Music. The answer is yes! I'll still be doing music news reporting for them regularly and on Beats 1, our clubnight Cat Lovers, a new night Nightcall at Hoxton Bar and Kitchen every other month, DJing, compering and everything else that keeps me busy! I really can't wait to get started. Virgin launches at the end of March so my first show will be Sunday 3rd April. Get locked in!!!

The Kills - Jamie Hince & Alison Moshart - are back with a new album 'Ash and Ice' & a new single 'Doing it to Death'. Jamie gave his first interview about the new record to BBC 6 Music and I got to do the honours. Here we are chatting about the new album, their touring plans & the dual creative relationship that lies at the heart of the band. Below is the super cool video for the track... Father John Misty was over in the UK to grace the Brit Awards red carpet, nominated for Best International Male.
He dropped into BBC 6 Music towers to sit down with me and have a natter about the BRITS, new music, his upcoming tour, multiple nights at the Roundhouse and what will be his biggest headline jaunt in the UK so far. Listen... Had the pleasure of covering the Music News for Matt Everitt on Shaun Keaveny’s breakfast show on BBC 6 Music last week. Honestly, it’s one of my favourite work things because it’s always full of surprises. Whether it’s the ‘Georgie’ song Shaun recorded at home and played out, acting alongside him in his original radio drama Crouchenders or dueting on Aswad Don't Turn Around at the 6 Music party we like a little collab! This time, my Zep radio husband put me on the spot good and proper singing a lil’ bit of More Than Words by Extreme. I took the high road, and he the low. There's an interlude about Simon's Le Bon Bons as well in there just for added colour. MEGALOLZ – think you might be lost for words after this! |
