It's an Annie Eve bonanza! I first met the enchanting singer-songwriter when we filmed some Secret Sessions earlier on in the year. I came under her spell watching her perform and like many others upon hearing the first EP tracks. On August 11th she releases her debut album Sunday 91 and is fresh from Festibelly at the weekend and a BBC Introducing slot at Glastonbury. Londoners go and see her at The Lexington on Monday 21st July. You can listen to her in conversation and picking a Late Night Love-In tune on my XFM show...

I had the absolute pleasure of chatting to the super talented dude Nick Mulvey for my XFM early morning show this week. I’ve been following his solo music since he branched out post-Portico Quartet. Casting my mind back, we actually chatted down at the Brighton festival when he was in the Mercury-nominated instrumental group and I saw their show that night and listened to those albums a lot during some quieter moments. I was always going to be intrigued by what came next and his debut album First Mind has turned into one of those albums that transcends time and place, that goes on at any moment in my flat or that of friends. There’s something timeless about it, like a Nick Drake record, and I’m sure I’ll be listening to it some more in the years to come. Fresh from Glastonbury he is on tour in Paris with John Butler Trio and then goes to Australia to play with Ben Howard, another musical love, before finishing up festival season and going on a massive UK tour playing practically everywhere. So we had a catch up about that and other things, Ben Howard, surfing and he took the Late Night Love-In mantle and picked a tune by someone he loves. Turned out it’s one of my faves too.
