9/7/2011 0 Comments MERCURYS: And the winner is...![]() ...PJ HARVEY! Hurrah. Was very excited when she made the nominees list and now she has gone and won it, 10 years after winning it the first time! G'wan Peej! Good that she actually made it to the bash this time as well. The last time she was watching the Pentagon burning from her hotel window in Washington. No, really! Her record of emotive protest songs is a masterpiece in my eyes so I'm thrilled for her and think she really deserved it. I remember when I was first listening to the record over and over when it was released in February of this year and soon after, the earthquake and Tsunami happened in Japan killing thousands of people. One of the most hard-hitting songs on it, All And Everyone (below), chimed with the horrific images we were seeing in the news. It seemed to soundtrack the horror which I think is why it still conjures such powerful and heart-breaking images in my mind. It's truly brilliant and you can check it out below. Anyway, 'nuff of the deepness! Good on Anna Calvi, Ghostpoet, Metronomy and all the rest of the nominees. It'll only do good things for their careers I'm sure. As we predicted right on Amazing Breakfast now I'm going to go and be smug (and regretful at the same time that I didn't put money on it) until I see her at Bestival.
