Russian-American artist Zola Jesus, aka Nika Roza Danilova, releases her third album Conatus today.
This follows the excellent Stridulum II, which propelled her into the wider consciousness, especially over here in the UK.
She is one interesting lady, with a background in opera and a degree in French and Philosophy, she now resides in LA, but grew up in rural Wisconcin among acres of forest.
Having listened to the record, there are some really beautiful moments, some gorgeous piano playing by Nika, and more of same, epic electronic tracks which show off her belly-aching howls.
Hear her talking to me all about the new album at Bestival a few weeks ago, that and working with M83's Anthony Gonzales on the opening track on his forthcoming double synth-pop behemouth Hurry Up, We're Dreaming.
