Greentea Peng joined me in the studio on Soho Radio on the show to get into the new album and play tracks from it.
Aria Wells is an artist from South London. She released her first EP in 2018, debut album Man Made in 2021, with a mixtape in between and now we have her second studio album Tell Dem It's Sunny. Her music incorporates dub, soul, r n b, psychedelic and grunge influences and where Man Made was overtly political in theme this time she's turned inwards and delivered one of her most personal works yet. In this conversation she discusses the process of making this record, how motherhood gave her a new sense of confidence and power, being more involved in the production on this LP, the upcoming UK and Europe tour with her first time playing the legendary Brixton Academy and how she had a near death experience while writing two of the more raw tracks on the record! Thanks for watching. In the show you can also hear an eclectic mix of tunes with new sounds from Neil Francis, The Moonlandings with Nadine Shah, Goldie's Rufige Crew, Little Simz, Goddess, Will Saul and Fink and Mark Pritchard working with Thom Yorke. Boogie Down In Africa was the track from my Vinyl of the Month record by Willy NFor which I bought from Bongo Joe record store in Geneva.
