Before she headed off on tour British singer-songwriter Billie Marten came in to chat to me on Music Discovery on Soho Radio London.
Billie's new album and fifth studio LP Dogeared comes out on 18th July on Fiction Records. She made the record in New York with a stellar list of collaborators and lets us in on a love story that happened during the hot and humid New York recording sessions. We also hear about writing fictional stories for the first time rather than autobiographical lyrics and how she creates a beautifully nostalgic sound world in her music. She's bestowed upon us five albums in 10 years since she started at the age of just 15 so we also discuss how she's a lifer! Billie is THE BEST! Hope you enjoy this conversation. On the channel this week I welcomed a very special guest into the studio for a conversation and live session, the British singer-songwriter Nick Mulvey.
His new album Dark Harvest Part 1 comes out this Friday 6th June 2025 and so Nick joined me on Soho Radio to chat all about making the new record, what we can expect from Part 2 out later this year and his tour plans all over the globe. Nick performed two tracks live as well, Radical Tenderness from the new album and a sublime cover which also features on the LP of Annie Lennox's No More "I Love You's". Nick also told us the story of deciding to cover that song and learning more about its inspiration when he became friends with Annie's daughter Lola Lennox. Enjoy!
