![]() Garage rock duo The Kills wrapped up their UK tour last weekend with their biggest headline show so far, at London's iconic Roundhouse venue. Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart are now gearing up for festival appearances in Australia and Japan, before heading off to Glastonbury, where they'll play the Other Stage. The band's fourth album Blood Pressures was three years in the making, after Alison spent 2009 and 2010 recording and touring with The Dead Weather. The hiatus led to rumours that Jamie would form his own side project. Some reports suggested he'd put together a five-piece band with his fiancee, Kate Moss. Speaking to 6 Music, Jamie denied the band's existence, saying any five-piece would be formed of "me, Alison and three gospel singers". "I'd like to find out where the rumours came from," he joked. "Who are the other four people?" "And are they any good?" asked Alison. You can hear my interview with The Kills below: o set custom HTML

6/7/2011 0 Comments WU LYF - say yeah!Possibly one of the most elusive new band's around WU LYF finally release their album on Monday 13 June. Here is a taster: ![]() It's brand new from singer-songwriter extraordinaire Kyla La Grange. We featured her last single Walk Through Walls on the show (Amazing Breakfast) as well so only right to give her new single a shout out. Listen to it here. You can download it for free as well, 'coz she's nice like that. Ice Black Birds have been Artist of the Week all week on Amazing Breakfast.
I chatted to them down at the Great Escape festival last month and you can watch that interview here. They are in talks to work in some capacity with the singer of White Denim. Now that's ace. ![]() Grouplove are gearing up to putting out their debut album in September. The band released their self-titled debut EP last year to rave reviews. The lead track, Colours, proved a hit with 6 Music listeners and the band recently dropped in to the station for a live session with Huey Morgan. The band is formed of Hannah, Christian, Sean, Andrew and Ryan - who is the son of former Yes guitarist and film composer Trevor Rabin. Their paths crossed at an artists' commune in Greece before getting together back in LA to work on the EP. Since, they've toured with Florence and the Machine and they're just about to release a new single, Itchin' On A Photograph, which is due on 19 June. I had a chat with them when they dropped into 6 Music to find out more about the imminent record: It's been 7 months since Warpaint's acclaimed debut album The Fool was released. The LA, all-girl quartet have been on the road since. With a summer of festivals in the diary including Glastonbury, their work is not done yet, but the band have started to think about a follow-up. I spoke to bassist Jenny Lee Lindberg and drummer Stella Mozgawa for BBC 6 Music down in Brighton when they were at the Great Escape festival to find out more. The chat began with me seeing how they were doing at this point in the tour? They're Swedish. They're a duo. They're called I Blame Horses and comprise of Maria Lindén and Fredrik Balck. It's almost as if they've been on a journey with M83 to the dark side but then whilst there entered a whole new world - if that makes any sense at all! In my head it does. This song is the title track from their upcoming debut album. I, for one, cannot get enough. I Break Horses - Hearts from Bella Union on Vimeo. |
