Meeting Santigold

Here is the new video for Santigold's blinder of a single off her upcoming second record, Master of my Make-Believe.

I've had a lot of love for her music since she started out and I was working at Xfm and got given her debut EP and then the first album Santogold. I remember listening to L.E.S. Artistes over and over for months.

Then in the time in between she worked with Beastie Boys on a track and Diplo on some beats and loads of others but FINALLY her new album is coming to light just at the point when I didn't think I could wait much longer!

To complete this small, teeny obsession, I got to meet her today as she dropped into BBC 6 Music to do an interview with me all about the new record.

Watch this space for the piece, will post as soon as it goes out on 6 Music, but wow. She was a joy to speak to, so lovely and interesting.

She talked about working with Ricky Blaze, who produced Hold Yuh by Gyptian, one of the best party tunes of the last year or so AND he's just 22! She also talked about how a thrilling boat ride where the boat was smashing down on the waves, complete with old reggae tune on the speakers, inspired the feeling of the record and how it's about being master of your own destiny, taking control of a situation.

Even Jay Z has called the album 'a revolution'!

All to come on this soon but just thought I'd write a post about how awesome she is and how she has the best ring collection I have ever seen. As a magpie to all things gold and shiny, that = WIN.

We were so humbled by the response to the Cat Lovers launch at the Queen of Hoxton at the weekend.

Sorry to those of you that couldn't get in, make sure you get down nice and early next month.

The bands, Kites, Flags, Lois and the Love and Jake Hart were all fantastic.

The DJs Felix White from The Maccabees, Santero, Fin Munro, Mayton smashed it too.

The crowd were a load of lovers not fighters.

We had a ball and it couldn't have gone any better really.

The line-up has now been announced for next month, the 31st March and we have headline DJ slots from Tribes and Chapel Club. It's going to fun.

Check in with the Facebook group here... FB

Track of the Week: Jessie Ware - Running

Picture
As ever we’ve got a new Track of the Week on Amazing Breakfast for your delectation, and this week it comes from the gorgeous Jessie Ware! Though there might be a little bias on my part as Jessie is a friend, the undeniably awesome vibe of Running is so strong that it wouldn’t have made any difference. We love the song, we love the lady, we think you’ll feel the same. Get involved and watch the video of her look chic to the max below:

Secret Sessions: Devlin and Jagga

Picture
This morning I filmed a Secret Session with Devlin and Jagga, doing their MONSTER new track Keep The Light On with TMS.

MC Devlin you might know from his collaborations with Yasmin, Emile Sande and Labyrinth.  He is currently working on his second album, the follow-up to Bud, Sweat and Beers.

Meanwhile Jagga has been in LA working with Odd Future producer Matt Martian and has another single on the way.

Here is the track but watch this space for a Secret Session track and interview which we filmed on the roof of the Lock Tavern pub in Camden.

In The Studio: My Grey Horse

Picture
The lovely boys of the Stratford band My Grey Horse dropped in to Amazing Towers London ahead of the release of their fantastic new EP the Marley Banks to play us some tracks from it and have a chat with me for Amazing Breakfast.

Firstly, as you can see they had the finest array of locks and turtle-necks in all the land.

Secondly, stream the interview, listen to the first two tracks, and watch the band performing Waste Of Air and the lead track from the new EP right here – Let Me Know (About the Waves)

New Keaton Henson (kinda)

Picture
London music-maker of the most heart-breaking kind Keaton Henson releases his debut album on February 27th.

It's called Dear and this track has just been uploaded to Amazing Tunes, hence why it has been snapped up as next week's Track of the Week.

Given, it's miserable to the point of 'take me to the nearest bridge' (don't worry I won't do it!) but is so stunning I couldn't resist.

Check out the video above. If you aren't devastated by the end of it then you are bloomin' hardcore!
